Robert Williamson III is Also Known As Mr. Omaha
Robert Williamson III's introduction to the game of poker is not different from how other poker professionals were introduced to the game. Just like some of the poker professionals, he learned about the game as early as ten years old. Every time his father would play poker, Robert Williamson III, who was only five years old at that time, would be asked to bring sandwiches and beverages at the games. As soon as he understood how poker was being played, he encouraged other children in his neighborhood to play poker with him. He also always tagged along with his father to Las Vegas, Nevada to play poker.
Born on November 7, 1970, Robert Williamson III was very interested in playing poker but he never thought of venturing into professional poker. As a matter of fact, he even obtained finance and real estate degrees from Angelo State University, which is located in San Angelo, Texas. After his graduation, he held several jobs to earn a living, including being a consultant, a restaurateur, and a real estate developer. After holding such professions, he just realized that poker was the profession for him. And so, he worked his way up to becoming a successful poker professional.
Of course, there is no denying that his father had a major impact on his decision to become a poker player. But he also emphasizes that the poker professional who has really taught him a lot is Russ Hamilton. Apart from Hamilton, he also looks up to poker giants Berry Johnston and Mark Gregorich.
Robert Williamson III is known as Mr. Omaha because apparently, he has always been an expert in Omaha poker games. Between 1999 and 2007, this poker professional has experienced nine admirable money finishes only from his participation in Omaha games conducted by the World Series of Poker. He has other admirable finishes from his participation in other major poker tournaments such as the World Poker Tour.
Between 2002 and 2005, Robert Williamson III underwent a gastric bypass surgery that made him lose 200 pounds. He used to weigh 400 pounds and now, he weighs 200 pounds. Nevertheless, such surgery did not become a hindrance to his determination to continue playing poker. As a matter of fact, this poker professional confesses that losing weight has only allowed him to have the stamina to play longer hours.
Robert Williamson III is also known as the poker professional who used the screen name "Miss Lulu" when he participated in the Full Tilt Online Poker Series that was held on February 18, 2007. He was the fourth placer who received the cash prize worth US$89,271.75.
